In the usual mindset of many people, wine is made from fermented grapes and is certainly vegetarian. But in fact, there is a difference between vegetarian and non-vegetarian wines. So what is a vegan wine?
Wines that do not use any animal products in the complete winemaking process, from the cultivation of the grapes to the final sealing of the bottle, can be called vegan wines. Many wineries use animal products in the winemaking process, such as egg whites, gelatin, fish bladders or casein (a protein in milk) to clarify the wine. During the cultivation of the vines, some wineries use fertilizers with animal products (such as fish milk, blood or bone meal). Some wineries also seal their bottles with beeswax or a composite cork made from some animal by-products. Wines produced in these ways cannot be classified as vegan.Warm Tips: Stay tuned to the LuFuture.com app for the latest market updates.
