What is the purpose of turquoise?

Turquoise, named Turquoise for its color and shape resembling a turquoise pine cone, is also known as Turkish jade, which enjoys international fame as the “Emerald of the East”. Is one of the world’s rare varieties of precious stones, because it is imported into European countries through Turkey, it has “ Turkish jade ” called, also known as “ Turkic jade ”. Turquoise products, now an important collector’s item, are a secondary mineral, formed by the leaching of groundwater containing copper, aluminum, and phosphorus in early granite rocks, which precipitated in veins near the surface to form nodules, encased by the matrix of the veins. Turquoise was the first mineral species to be used as an ornament.

Usually produced in secondary shallow metallogenic deposits, it has the chemical formula CuAl6(PO4)4(OH)8·5H2O, has a soft waxy luster, and is in the trigonal crystal system. The crystal form is a dense cryptocrystalline aggregate, sometimes crust-like, nodular, single crystal is extremely rare. The texture is very fine and the toughness is relatively poor. The color of turquoise varies depending on the elements it contains, and is mostly sky blue, light blue, greenish blue, green, yellow, and pale white with green. It is blue when it contains oxides of copper and green when it contains oxides of iron.

The Egyptians used turquoise carved as a god of love to guard their branded jewelry and gemstone stores; the Indians believed turquoise was the spirit of the sea and blue sky that would bring good luck and good fortune to those on expeditions, and was known as the stone of success and luck and a symbol of divine power, while the Tibetans in China believed turquoise was the incarnation of God with irresistible divine power; the Turks were even convinced that turquoise rosaries would block the eyes of the devil. More interesting is that, the medieval German young men and women engaged, men are to send their fiancée a turquoise ring, and thereafter pay special attention to observe the change in its color. If the turquoise changed from blue to green, the fiancée was considered to have lost her virginity and the engagement would be broken. In order not to be deceived, the fiancée kept the turquoise ring in a safe place. Only when the fiancé is summoned will she be willing to wear it.

Turquoise is the December birthstone. It represents warmth and vitality, and symbolizes good luck, eternity and success. Wearing a turquoise ornament fills your life with love, avoids all unexpected misfortunes, and brings good luck.
